Michele Yamaguma creates mixed media collages using Japanese washi, art papers, leaves, bamboo, paint, and threads. These original pieces have traditional themes with a contemporary touch. Her extensive travels, the environment, and the mood she wishes to evoke are what serve as her inspiration and has been to festivals and exhibitions throughout the U.S. since 1990.
Our Nikkei Matsuri Connection
Frances Shibata and my mom, Sylvia Dea along with her sisters, were one of the original crafter/artists' booths in Nikkei Matsuri in the early 1980's. I added my artwork to their booth in 1991 and after several years, they retired and I inherited the space. Since then I have made many vendor and customer friends and look forward to and enjoy the community spirit every year. Every performance and food booth all together create a great atmosphere and I would miss any one element if it was eliminated or cut back.
Since Michele does not have an online store, please email/website contact to see photos of what's on hand or for a custom piece. She will be happy to meet in the Buddhist Church parking lot on an agreed date and time frame for customers to pick up their items.
