San Jose Buddhist Women's Association

The Buddhist Women’s Association (BWA) is a group of well-organized, committed women who contribute generously in finances and volunteer their time and efforts to benefitting various San Jose Buddhist Betsuin projects. The BWA have undertaken many fundraising drives in order to help community projects in social welfare services, most recently donating towards Silicon Valley Strong service project. We are staunch supporters of the Dharma School and youth programs. We are involved in the propagation of the Buddhist religion and the practice of the Buddhist way of life.

BWA membership is open to women of all ages—please join us.

Our Nikkei Matsuri Connection
BWA has participated in the Nikkei Matsuri Festival for many years serving Veggie Curry Rice and Smoothies. Prior to this as an organization formally known as the Fujin Kai, we served Inarisushi. We have always enjoyed being a part of this celebration of the Japanese American experience through food, exhibits and artisan wares. It has been a fun collaboration and allowed us to fundraise to support the Betsuin and its affiliated organizations, and to subsidize members' costs to participate in the World Buddhist Women's Convention held in San Francisco.
