Our Nikkei Matsuri Connection
I have participated in festivals including Nikkei Matsuri which features the culture of Japan for many years. From the time my mom was teaching in San Jose over 50 years ago, I have participated in Nikkei Matsuri because I felt it was important to keep up traditions handed down to us by our ancestors to help us understand who we are as Americans of Japanese descent. Because the arts and culture of Japan are so beautiful and wonderful, it gives us pride, and helps us to understand others of diverse backgrounds as well.
